From Inner Mongolia, KCMG travels to the southern region of China where the 4th event of Formula Pilota will take place in Guangdong International Circuit on September 15-16.
Following a strong race in Ordos where British driver Dan Wells reaped his third victory of the season, the team returns to China with renewed confidence to once again secure top place. Wells is primed to make the most of theTatuus FA010’s potential and is keen to deliver more victories for the team.
Racing alongside Wells is 15 year old Japanese Karting champion, Yuta Shiraishi, who looks forward to his maiden race in the highly competitive series after a successful test in Guangdong last Friday. The two drivers are to complete three races this coming weekend at Guangdong’s 2.8km circuit.
Wells, who has moved from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong to pursue his racing career in Asia, is currently having a good run in the series. The 2011 Formula Renault UK Finals Series Vice Champion is 2nd place in overall standings and is a strong contender for the championship title. According to Wells, “I’m looking forward to racing at Guangdong International Circuit. I believe we will be very strong there and can’t wait for the weekend to get under way after last round didn’t go exactly as planned. I’d like to thank my new sponsor ‘Choctails’ for their support and hope I will be able to treat myself to a few of their chocolates after a good weekend’s work!”
Meanwhile, Shiraishi is excited for his first car race and is busy preparing for his maiden outing in Guangdong with KCMG this weekend, “I’m looking forward to join my first car race after a positive first test with KCMG for Formula Pilota last week and the numerous car testing that we did in Europe. I’ll still be participating in the remaining kart races this year and will be aiming for championships in Europe and Japan, but it’s also great to be moving up to the higher rungs of motorsport with a great team.”
KCMG Deputy Managing Director John O’Hara has been very busy preparing with the rest of the team for Formula Pilota’s next event. Set for a strong weekend, O’Hara states, “We are working hard with our engineer and mechanics to make sure that the drivers will be able to deliver strong results in Guangdong. We are halfway through the season and it is important that we strengthen our chance to win the championship title this year. So far, the team has accomplished a lot in the past 3 events and I am very proud of them.”
