KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) showed solid pace at Round 3 of the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS), as they continue their preparation for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Nürburgring next month.
After a promising start to the season with a podium at NLS 1, the team was eager to build on the momentum from the opening round. Dennis Olsen and Josh Burdon returned to the legendary circuit at the wheel of the #18 Porsche 911 GT3 R, and were joined by two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Earl Bamber.
The Hong-Kong based squad was making strong progress through the field during the initial two hours of the race, moving up 10 positions and into seventh place overall, until Burdon was caught up in an incident at the Döttinger Höhe straight. The Australian was forced to return to the pits for repairs, but despite the unscheduled stop, the team re-joined the race and finished 17th, gathering more data on the 25.378-kilometre circuit.
KCMG will return to the iconic Nordschleife for two three-hour races as part of the ADAC TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Nürburgring Qualifiers on 6-8 May, before the main event on 26-29 May.
DENNIS OLSEN
“It was a tough weekend for us, but we definitely learned a lot. We were a little unlucky in the race as we were involved in an incident, but Josh managed to pit and the team could repair the damage, allowing us to improve further and make more progress. The car was great, the team is doing a brilliant job, so we must continue to work hard.”
JOSH BURDON
“Overall, it was a positive weekend at the Nordschleife. We gathered new information and our preparations are going well. We were unfortunate to get caught up in an incident, but we still managed to learn and improve. The car was quick once again and the team are doing really well to make sure we keep progressing every time we take to the track.”
EARL BAMBER
“It was great to return to the Nürburgring with KCMG. Ultimately, it wasn’t the result we wanted but that’s racing, especially on a circuit like the Nordschleife. It was a good weekend overall, as we were able to progress, so the goal now is hold on to this momentum.”
MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“While the final result was affected due to being caught in an incident involving other cars, the team were able to make excellent progress behind the scenes. I was delighted to welcome Earl back to the squad, who did a fantastic job alongside Dennis and Josh. We can now focus our efforts on the Qualifiers, which will be the last chance to test and develop our car before the 24-hour race in May.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“Following the postponement of NLS 2, I’m pleased that the team returned to take on the incredible Nordschleife once again after their success at NLS 1. Unfortunately, it did not go our way this time after the incident, but the crew still worked hard to continue and to keep learning in the remainder of the race. I was happy to to see Earl return to the team, and he did a great job alongside Dennis and Josh. Now the focus is on making sure we’re ready for the Qualifiers and the main event itself.”
