SGC by KCMG focused on success in Sugo

After a constructive weekend in Okayama, SGC by KCMG turns to Sportsland Sugo for the 6th event of Japanese Formula 3 which will be held on September 22-23. Gary Thompson and Matt Howson are confident that victory is within reach, particularly after the Dallara F308 went through extensive modification and demonstrated significant improvements during the last race.

Both drivers have their sights set on locking out the front row and to finish on top of the podium this coming race weekend. Thompson and Howson are eager to once again compete in Sugo’s 3.73km circuit that has hosted other highly-recognized motorsport events such as Formula Nippon and Super GT.

Thompson, who has been consistent on the podium since the series’ Fuji outing, expressed his enthusiasm over the upcoming event. “I’m really looking forward to going back to Sugo this weekend. It’s a track I’ve always enjoyed. We made some big improvements to the car set up during the last race weekend in Okayama so we hope that we can improve on that again for this weekend and hopefully challenge for wins. There’s 3 races this weekend so a lot of opportunities to get a good result.”

Howson has had his highs and lows during the past few rounds of the championship. Nonetheless, the British driver maintains his optimism and is keen to challenge for victory. “Sugo this weekend is very important for myself and KCMG, last time out in Okayama the car was finally competitive with the top 3 in N Class and we must now continue that improvement to finish all 3 races on the podium. Sugo is one of my favourite circuits in the world, so I am looking forward to the weekend, it would be a dream to get my first win of 2012 at this circuit.”

KCMG Japan General Manager Ryuji Doi believes that the odds for multiple podiums in Sugo are very likely. He states, “We have performed the precise adjustments and have modified the car to make it more competitive than the last time out in Okayama. The team is looking forward to have the cars out on the circuit in Sugo and hopefully we will be on the pace early. Our goal is to secure more podiums this weekend and I know that Gary and Matt can do it!”
