KIDS COM TEAM KCMG EAGER FOR 2023 SUPER FORMULA SEASON

Team KCMG is proud to announce the strengthening of its relationship with Kids com ahead of the 2023 Super Formula season. The child education organisation, which provides after-school care and nature experience learning programs for children becomes the team’s official title partner. Meanwhile, AOI and CRITERIA also join the outfit as key sponsors.

The squad, now known as Kids com Team KCMG, will continue to field 2016 series champion Yuji Kunimoto and ex-F1 driver Kamui Kobayashi for 2023, while Tetsuya Tanaka, who raced for KCMG in the 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series, joins the ranks as Race Manager.

The Hong Kong-based team will embark on its 14th consecutive season in Japan’s premier single-seater category in 2023, with testing to be held at Suzuka international Racing Course on March 6-7 ahead of the season-opening double-header at Fuji Speedway on April 7-9.

Super Formula is set to introduce the brand-new Dallara SF23 chassis for the upcoming campaign, with aerodynamic tweaks to its predecessor designed to increase overtaking opportunities. Yokohama Rubber will also implement a carbon neutral racing tyre, made from 33% recycled and renewable raw materials.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“The new Dallara SF23 chassis will be a huge challenge for everyone this year. I’ve been working hard with the team over the winter to help us start the year strongly and I can’t wait to tackle the pre-season tests at Suzuka. We only have two days of testing, so it’s important to focus on getting to grips with the new car ahead of the opening round at Fuji.”

#18 YUJI KUNIMOTO

“I’m really happy to continue representing Kids com Team KCMG this season. The goal is to be competitive and I’m motivated to help push the team further up the grid in 2023.”

TSUGIO MATSUDA TEAM MANAGER

“This year comes with the added challenge of the new Dallara SF23 chassis. We’ve been working hard in the off-season to prepare and we need to lay solid foundations in testing so we can hit the ground running in the opening race at Fuji Speedway.”

TETSUYA TANAKA RACE MANAGER

“I’m really happy to be joining up with Kids com Team KCMG for the 2023 Super Formula season and thankful for the opportunity. I enjoyed racing for the squad in the 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series and I’m excited to be back in a new role. Now my job is to help contribute to the success of this team, and we’ll look to set a good base at testing next week.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“We’re delighted to further our relationship with Kids com after a positive first year for the partnership in 2022 and I’d like to thank Kids com Owner Satoru Nishiyama and the rest of the company for their incredible continued support. We’ve been working hard over the winter to be in the best possible shape for the 2023 season. I’m pleased to welcome Tetsuya to the team as our Race Manager and I’m confident he can help us have a successful campaign. In Yuji and Kamui, we have two incredible drivers, so hopefully we can ensure they’re fighting for strong results.”
