KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) got their Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie off to a positive start last weekend, with Edoardo Liberati taking pole position in the SP10 category at the Nordschleife in NLS1.
Racing for the first time in the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO, Liberati teamed up with Martin Rump for the car’s competitive European debut in the four-hour race.
Italian Liberati has plenty of experience at the Green Hell with KCMG, and put that to good use, taking class pole position on Saturday. After an excellent strategy call from the team to utilise the undercut, Rump held a comfortable lead for the first part of his stint, before an incident on track in the final hour resulted in steering damage and eventual retirement.
NLS continues with the second round of the season on 31 March – 1 April.
EDO LIBERATI
“Overall, it was a positive debut for KCMG with the Toyota Supra GT4 Evo. We secured pole position in mixed conditions and were comfortably leading our class. Unfortunately we didn’t complete the job, but mistakes are easy to come by on the Nordschleife so we’ll learn and come back even stronger. Now we have to analyse all the data we gathered and prepare to be at our best for NLS2.”
MARTIN RUMP
“Without much testing time before the first race, we still managed to put together a car capable of fighting at the front of the field. Both our qualifying and race pace was strong and although it didn’t go our way this time, the team is doing a great job and we’ll be back stronger for NLS2.”
MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“NLS1 was a typical Nordschleife race. We largely dominated the SP10 class throughout the weekend, but ended up coming away unrewarded. The pit crew and strategy were superb, and we will learn from the outcome. The Green Hell is unforgiving and unfortunately it’s an unavoidable part of driver development in this championship. Overall, it was a debut full of promise, and we now look forward to realising our obvious potential at NLS2 and beyond.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“The team showed plenty of positive signs this weekend, despite not getting the result that looked likely throughout. The Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO was very strong on the Nordschleife and the crew did a great job with the strategy to lead the race. Ultimately it’s a frustrating result, but we know there are several promising factors to build on for the rest of the campaign.”
