KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is aiming to continue its strong form in the 2023 Super Taikyu Series this weekend at Sportsland Sugo, following their excellent podium finish at the Fuji Super TEC 24 Hours in May.
The Hong Kong-based squad will return to its full-time trio of drivers this weekend, with Ho-Pin Tung, Marchy Lee Ying-Kin and KCMG Founder Paul Ip competing in the #202 Honda NSX GT3.
In partnership with Evangelion Racing, the squad will sport a one-off purple and lime green livery, inspired by the EVA TEST TYPE-01. The design will be the third run by KCMG this season, following the team’s classic colours at Suzuka and their collaboration with A Bathing Ape at Fuji.
The 3.704-kilometre Sportsland Sugo circuit challenges drivers with its sweeping turns, such as Rainbow, Horseback and 110R. The track is also notorious for its elevation changes, with a variation of 69.8 metres per lap.
HO-PIN TUNG
“After scoring our first podium of the season in the Fuji 24 hour race, I’m hugely looking forward to Sugo. It’s a very technical and challenging circuit for both driver and car. KCMG had very good pace here in Super Formula recently, so we’ll be looking to replicate that in Super Taikyu with a very cool new livery on our car!”
MARCHY LEE YING-KIN
“Following the event at Fuji, we have a much clearer understanding of how to improve the car and manage the tyres better. We’re hoping for another strong result at Sugo and I’m excited to compete with the special Evangelion Racing livery. It looks incredible and we hope than both Evangelion Racing and KCMG fans will like it.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“We performed very well as a team during the last Super Taikyu round at Fuji Speedway, and I’m confident we can replicate that pace this weekend. Sugo is a tough track, but it’s an incredibly satisfying one as a driver. We’re also bringing a beautiful new livery to the event in partnership with Evangelion Racing, which I’m sure will stand out on track.”
