KCMG AIMING TO CAPITALISE ON FANATEC GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA POTENTIAL AT SUZUKA

Team KCMG is looking to benefit from the pace shown at Fuji Speedway to score strong points as Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS heads to Suzuka for Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2023 campaign.

The Hong Kong-based team, which is making its return to the championship this year, secured fifth place in the second race at Fuji last month, before post-race penalties dropped them out of the points.

Both Edoardo Liberati and KCMG Founder Paul Ip displayed strong speed in the #22 Honda NSX GT3 EVO in wet and dry conditions, and will be looking to pick up their first points of the season as the series heads to the figure-of-eight circuit.

Suzuka is world famous for its challenging layout, with drivers and cars pushed to the limit throughout the 5.807-kilometre lap. Corners such as the Esses, Dunlop, Spoon Curve and 130R are some of the most well-known bends in the world of motorsport. The event also marks the first of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia double-header, with the series set to visit Mobility Resort Motegi on 21-23 July.

The weekend begins with Free Practice on Friday 14 July, ahead of qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, with Race 2 wrapping up the event on Sunday.

EDOARDO LIBERATI

“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the Honda NSX GT3 EVO. We had strong pace at Fuji and expect the same at Suzuka, a track I’ve always enjoyed racing on.”

PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER

“I was delighted with the speed we had at Fuji, we were immediately competitive and would’ve taken a strong haul of points if not for the post-race penalties. Suzuka will provide a different test, but I’m feeling confident in the car and hoping for another positive performance.”

MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER

“Our first Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia event in Fuji had its tough moments, but we were delighted with the performance of our car and drivers. We know we’re capable of a top-five finish, Suzuka will be an interesting one, with the weather often variable and the circuit a challenging one, but we have plenty of experience there so we can be optimistic of a great result.”
