KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) scored its first points of the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS campaign as the series visited Suzuka International Racing Course.
Competing in the #22 Honda NSX GT3 EVO, Italian racer Edoardo Liberati and KCMG founder Paul Ip put in a strong showing on Saturday to claim eighth, having started outside the top-20 on the grid. Up against a highly-competitive field, the duo could only manage 15th in the second race of the weekend.
The 2023 season reached its halfway mark at the famous figure-of-eight venue and quickly moves on to Mobility Resort Motegi for Rounds 7 and 8 this coming weekend. GT World Challenge Asia will be making its debut at the 4.801-kilometre circuit, which challenges drivers with its many long straights and heavy braking zones into tight corners.
EDOARDO LIBERATI
“I’m very happy with our pace at Suzuka, both Paul and I showed strong speed and to finish P8 in such a competitive field is a well-deserved reward for the team. We’re heading straight into the next round at Motegi, so we’ll keep our focus and look to push hard there.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“It was great to get our first points of the season at such an incredible track. Suzuka was a lot of fun to drive, Edo put in a brilliant performance and we were able to claim a strong result with eighth in the first race. The work doesn’t stop here, as we take on Motegi this weekend and look to make even more progress there.”
MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“We showed a lot of improvements at Suzuka in the Honda NSX GT3 EVO. Edo had great pace throughout and Paul had one of his strongest races, combining to deliver a top-10 finish having started P23, which is an excellent achievement given how competitive this series is. Motegi will provide a very difficult challenge, it’s notoriously hot there in July which is tough on both car and driver, but we’ll apply what we learned in Suzuka to move further up the field.”
