Kids com Team KCMG aims to continue their recent points scoring streak as Super Formula heads to Mobility Resort Motegi for the penultimate event of the 2023 season.
The squad has secured top-10 finishes in each of the last three events, with Kamui Kobayashi and Yuji Kunimoto both hoping to benefit from the improved pace at the 4.801-kilometre circuit.
Ex-F1 driver Kobayashi has had success at the venue in the past, taking second place in both 2017 and 2019. Since it opened in 1997, the circuit has hosted Japan’s top-tier of motorsport in every year, with its long straights and fast, sweeping corners providing a stern challenge to the drivers.

“Motegi is an incredible track and a favourite for a lot of the drivers. It’s likely to be a hot race, which will be tough on the cars and teams, but we’ll do our best from the off and look for a strong result.”

“Qualifying will be very important at Motegi, it’s hard to overtake there. We’ll be looking to set up strongly for Saturday and produce a car I can drive with confidence throughout the weekend.”

“This season we’ve had a lot of races where we’ve not quite found the pace necessary for strong results, but we have a good record at Motegi. I’m returning this weekend for the first time since my accident, so I’m looking forward to working with everyone in the team again.”

“We’ve had some events this season where we could’ve been on the podium, but unfortunately we haven’t taken advantage of these opportunities. In Motegi, we’re hoping to hit the ground running in Free Practice and aim for positive finishes with both cars.”
