SGC by KCMG returns to the foothills of Mount Fuji as Japanese Formula 3 gets set for its concluding event on October 13-14. Gary Thompson and Naoya Gamou are focused to finish on top of the podium in the closing races of the Japanese series.
After a season’s hiatus, Gamou returns to Japanese Formula 3 to compete and gain points for SGC by KCMG. Meanwhile, Thompson, who is currently 4th in overall National Class standings, is geared to drive his Dallara F307 straight to success in the series’ season-ending event.
As the Fuji event brings down the curtain on the championship’s 2012 season, the team is looking forward to get on the pace as early as first practice and to deliver solid results throughout the weekend. It is the series’ second time out at Fuji Speedway’s 4.56km circuit which features 16 turns and is known for having one of the longest straights in motorsport.
After competing in six remarkable events which took SGC by KCMG to different circuits around Japan, the team is reflective as it gets primed for the championship’s season finale. KCMG Japan General Manager Ryuji Doi is retrospective, “The team has had its highs and lows throughout the season and we have a very good team and drivers that worked with us from the start of the season to the series’ final event. I’m quite happy with the progress that we’ve made with the cars and how we’ve emerged on the podium several times this year. I hope we conclude this event with a victory from Gary and Naoya. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us in our 2012 campaign.”
Thompson, who has represented KCMG in Japanese Formula 3 for 3 straight seasons, is also contemplative as the championship reaches its final stage in Fuji. He expressed, “I’m looking forward to going back to Fuji this weekend. When we raced there earlier this year we managed to secure an overall pole position. I think we have managed to improve our car a lot since then so I’m hoping we can be competitive and challenge for the win.”
A consistent front-runner during Japanese Formula 3’s 2010 season, Gamou is happy to reinstate his career in the championship and looks forward to race for SGC by KCMG this coming weekend. “I am very glad to get the chance to take part in Japan Formula 3 with SGC by KCMG this time. I would like to carry out the run which meets the expectation of a team and give the best result. I am not worried even though I have not competed in F3 for a long time. I am training hard and had good results during testing last June. I’m looking forward to this race and I will do my best!”
