KAMUI KOBAYASHI AND NIREI FUKUZUMI TO COMPETE FOR KIDS COM TEAM KCMG IN 2024 SUPER FORMULA

Kids com Team KCMG is delighted to announce that Kamui Kobayashi and Nirei Fukuzumi will race for the squad in the 2024 Super Formula season.

Next year will mark the Hong Kong-based outfit’s 15th consecutive season in Japan’s top tier of single-seater racing, with 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Kobayashi remaining with the team for the eighth year, driving the #7 car. He will be joined by 2021 Super Formula runner-up and two-time Super Formula race winner Fukuzumi, who will take the wheel of the #8 Dallara SF23.

The duo took part in the post-season test at Suzuka last week, with Kobayashi finishing the final day quickest, narrowly ahead of Fukuzumi in second. The team would also like to thank Yuhi Sekiguchi for his work during the test, topping the morning session on Day 1 and helping the team in many ways, and is hoping to continue working with Sekiguchi in 2024.

The team is also working on restructuring its key personnel, so it can achieve its ambitious goals for the 2024 season, which begins with pre-season testing in February ahead of the first round at Suzuka on 8-10 March.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“I’m very pleased to be continuing my long-standing relationship with Kids com Team KCMG. A huge thanks goes out to the team, GAZOO Racing and all involved in making this possible. 2023 was a frustrating year for us, but we finished strongly in testing last week and we’ll be aiming to carry this into the new season. I’m looking forward to working closely with Nirei and delighted to welcome him to the team and we’ll both put everything in to make 2024 a success.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I’m really excited for the coming season with Kids com Team KCMG. It’s a great feeling to be part of the team and a huge thanks to them for welcoming me. I really enjoyed testing with the squad at Suzuka and already built good relationships with the crew, so I can’t wait to get going in 2024. We’ll do our best to achieve some great results next year, the team deserves to be fighting at the front, so that’s our aim.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“I’m very happy to be announcing Kids com Team KCMG’s line up for the 2024 season. Kamui and Nirei make a really strong pairing and I can’t wait to see them battling on track in our colours. We feel really motivated after a strong post-season test last week and we’re looking to carry that form into next season. I want to thank Yuji Kunimoto for the last four years with us, he was a hugely valuable member of the squad and achieved a memorable podium finish at Suzuka. A huge thanks goes to Toyota for their support on our 2024 programme, and also to Paul Ip and Kids com owner Satoru Nishiyama for making it possible. I’m very excited to get back on track in the new year and show the fans what we are capable of.”
