KCMG Driver Development Project (KCMG-DDP) member Pablo Sarrazin claimed his maiden podium finish at the Rallye National de Balagne in Corsica last weekend.
The young Frenchman built on his promising performance at the Rallye du Var three weeks ago, showing ever-competitive pace at the wheel of the #54 Peugeot 208 Rally4 despite being fitted with dry tyres in wet conditions on Day 1 due to unpredictable conditions. Alongside co-driver Jacques-Julien Renucci, Sarrazin drove superbly, finishing in the top four in five out of seven stages of the 375-kilometre event, and claiming third place in Stage 2, which has previously been part of the 2019 Tour de Corse in the World Rally Championship. His excellent weekend was crowned with the fastest time in class in Stage 6.
The teenager’s brilliant driving was rewarded with a third-place finish in the Rally4 class, and 11th overall, out of 87 competitors, many of whom have several years of rallying experience. The Rallye National de Balagne was Sarrazin’s final event of the 2023 season, with his full 2024 programme set to be announced in due course.
PABLO SARRAZIN
“We entered this event aiming to continue to hone our skills in rallying, and we’ve come away more than satisfied. It’s amazing to end the year with my first podium finish, especially in front of so many local experts. I’d like to thank KCMG and Sarrazin Motorsport for their hard work to support me during the weekend and I’m looking forward to next season already.”
JACQUES-JULIEN RENUCCI
“I was very impressed with Pablo’s driving this weekend. He demonstrated incredible car control and pace while competing, including in two Special Stages that have previously been used in the 2019 Tour de Corse in the World Rally Championship. His adaptability also shone through during the weekend, when he managed low levels of grip with dry tyres in wet conditions due to changeable weather. Pablo’s performance was flawless from start to finish, and it is even more remarkable that he did it while competing against highly experienced drivers who have entered this rally many times. The event has been a hugely positive end to Pablo’s year and I look forward to his continued development.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“We’re very pleased with Pablo’s performance at such an early stage of his rallying career. He showed his composure by handling the car on the wrong tyres due to rapidly changing weather conditions, and put the full extent of his ability on display with his first-place finish in Stage 6. Pablo’s progression this year in rallying has been highly encouraging and we look forward to furthering his development in the 2024 season”
