The 2024 Super Formula season heads to the Autopolis International Racing Course in Ōita Prefecture this weekend with Kids com Team KCMG hopeful of a good showing.
Kids com Team KCMG comes into the second round of the campaign in a strong position after Nirei Fukuzumi finished in sixth place in the season-opener at Suzuka, his debut race with the outfit.
Fukuzumi and teammate Kamui Kobayashi now travel south with Kids com Team KCMG to Autopolis, the southernmost location on the Super Formula map and the only circuit located on the island of Kyūshū.
The Autopolis course is 4.674km long, featuring some long sweeping corners before a final sector with tighter, slower turns. The track, which is at an altitude of 820 metres, also has major elevation changes throughout the lap.

“We’ve had a two month break since the opening round in Suzuka, so I have utilised this time to prepare with the team ahead of the visit to Autopolis. It’s always a challenging weekend here with the elevation change during the lap, as well as the high altitude of the circuit. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the track this weekend and racing in front of our amazing fans.”
#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI
“I’m feeling ready ahead of this weekend after competing in Super GT during the break. Since the first round, I’ve been analysing my performance in Suzuka and what is needed to achieve consistent results. I’m currently living in Kyüshü so Autopolis for me is like a home race, so I’m excited for the event.”
RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT
“It’s been a long time since the last race, so we’ve used it to work on new systems within the team. We’re hopeful that this will bring improvements to our performance during the remainder of the season. We’re delighted to welcome our new race engineer Cosimo Prusciano who will be joining us in Autopolis this weekend and working on the #7 car. We’ve been preparing well and are looking forward to attacking the weekend.”
