KIDS COM TEAM KCMG SET FOR MID-SEASON TESTING AT FUJI SPEEDWAY

Super Formula heads south to the Shizuoka region, as mid-season testing takes place at Fuji Speedway, with Kids com Team KCMG looking to further develop their car ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The two-day event is the only testing opportunity available to teams during the season, with four two-hour long sessions. The weather forecast currently indicates that the test, which gets underway on Sunday morning, could be hit by rain.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“I think this test has come at the perfect time, because we’ve learnt a lot from the opening rounds of this campaign. We haven’t consistently had a strong set-up, which is something we’ll be looking to improve on during this time. Hopefully we can try different setup options throughout the two days, and make sure we leave with an improved car.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“It’s our first chance to test since the season started, so I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing how we can improve. It’ll also be a great opportunity for us to get a number of laps around a track which we’re going to be racing at three times later this year. Some areas on the car can only be understood in warm temperatures, which we’re expecting in Fuji, so this would be ideal and make it a very meaningful test for us.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“Usually during a race weekend we have very little time to test during free practice with everything focused towards qualifying and race set up We’ll look to take full advantage of the two days here, which provide us with a valuable opportunity to improve certain areas of the car. We were unable to run sufficiently at Sportsland Sugo, due to the bad weather, so we’re looking forward to the chance to gain a lot of knowledge. We’re hoping to come out of this test heading in a good direction for the second half of the campaign.”
