KIDS COM TEAM KCMG MAINTAINS SUPER FORMULA POINTS SCORING STREAK AT MOBILITY RESORT MOTEGI

Kids Com Team KCMG secured a ninth-placed finish with Nirei Fukuzumi as the squad kept up their form of scoring points in every race of the 2024 Super Formula season.

Having qualified 10th, Fukuzumi made a strong start, moving up to seventh and looking to challenge the upper half of the points following the pit stop phase. Unfortunately, a slow stop for the #8 car meant Fukuzumi dropped down the order, and while he showed excellent pace in the closing laps, could only secure two points for ninth.

Meanwhile, Kamui Kobayashi recovered from a difficult qualifying, making up five positions to narrowly miss out on points in 12th.

Super Formula now enters a break before the next event, which is a double-header at Fuji Speedway on 11-13 October.

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I got a strong start in the race and was able to move up three places in the opening laps. We decided to go long on the first set of tyres, but unfortunately we had an issue in the pits and lost positions. I managed to clinch ninth, however we know it could have been more. We have a double header at Fuji coming up next, and we can go into that event with confidence following our strong performance there last time out.”

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“It was a disappointing result for us, and we need to make improvements in qualifying to give us a chance of scoring good points. We struggled with pace, so we’ll work hard together with the team to improve during the time off and take on the challenge at Fuji.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“In the race, we made another mistake during the pit stops, which was very disappointing. Apologies to Nirei and we will work hard on this to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We have almost two months until the next event, which is a double header at Fuji Speedway. To score strong points regularly, we need to be getting both cars to Q2 on a consistent basis. Our race pace is competitive, so we have to capitalise on our potential in the remaining rounds.”
