KIDS COM TEAM KCMG PREPARES TO TAKE ON FUJI SPEEDWAY DOUBLE-HEADER

Kids com Team KCMG is all set for the first of two double-headers to finish the 2024 Super Formula season, starting in the Shizuoka Prefecture at Fuji Speedway.

The squad extended their points-scoring streak last time out at Mobility Resort Motegi, which currently stands at eleven consecutive races, as Nirei Fukuzumi secured a ninth-place finish.

In the #7 car, Kamui Kobayashi will be looking to return the top 10 after showing strong race pace in the previous round.

Super Formula has already competed in the foothills of Mount Fuji back in July of this year, when Nirei Fukuzumi took the teams’ first ever pole position in the series with a stunning lap, before scoring a strong fourth in the race.

The circuit’s main feature is one of the longest straights in motorsport. At a length of 1.475km, overtaking is likely to happen into Turn 1, before a technical lap follows which will test the drivers throughout.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“In the previous round at Fuji Speedway, Nirei had great pace while I also completed a good race, so we’re hoping to replicate that performance this weekend. The atmosphere last time was amazing with lots of fans coming out, so we’re looking to have another successful and enjoyable event.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“We picked up points at Motegi but overall, it was a disappointing round and we’ll be hoping to put this right. In July when we raced at Fuji, I picked up the team’s first pole position in the series, so the pace of the car was clearly strong. It’s a massive weekend with the event being a double-header and we’ll make sure that we maximise our performance!”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“The 2024 season feels like it’s flown by now with just two events and four rounds left. We must be at our best from the first practice session to ensure that we get the results that we need. We made mistakes during the race last time at Fuji, but I’m confident that we’ve learned from those issues and can have a positive weekend, scoring important points for the championship standings.”
