KIDS COM TEAM KCMG SET TO WARM UP FOR 2025 CAMPAIGN IN PRE-SEASON TESTING

Kids com Team KCMG is preparing for its 16th season in Japan’s premier single seater championship, as it gears up for Super Formula pre-season testing at Suzuka International Racing Course.

After its best-ever campaign in 2024, where the squad secured three podiums and scored points in every race on its way to fourth in the Teams’ championship, the outfit has opted to continue with the driver pairing of Nirei Fukuzumi and Kamui Kobayashi.

The two-day test, set for 18-19 February, will feature two sessions per day. Tuesday will see the majority of the running, with a pair of two-and-a-half hour sessions, from 10:00-12:30 local time (UTC+9) and 14:00-16:30. Wednesday’s running starts later with cars on track from 11:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00. One of the main goals for the test will be to get familiar with the new-for-2025 tyres. The Yokohama rubber, which is made of 46% renewable materials, has been tipped to be the focus of attention ahead of the season-opening double-header, also at Suzuka, on 7-9 March.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“Last year was a much improved one for the whole team, with poles and podiums and some other very good performances. However, we will keep pushing to further progress, targeting race victories in 2025. As the only test before the season starts, getting plenty of valuable track time is vital if we want to start the campaign strongly.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I’m excited to get back on track for the new Super Formula campaign. We had a strong season last year and were able to score plenty of points, including two podiums. This year, we have three more races, with four of those at Suzuka, so this test will be very important. We only have two tests throughout the campaign, so we’re looking to be productive over the two days, allowing us to head to the opening round with confidence of securing a positive result.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“Last year was a positive one for us, earning our first pole positions in Super Formula and returning to the podium. Our goal was to take a victory, and we are determined to make that a reality in 2025. We have strengthened our team during the off-season and with more races this year, plus the new tyres, will be targeting further improvements as a unit. Rather than maintaining our position from 2024, we are looking forwards to fighting at the front and hopefully winning races.”
