KIDS COM TEAM KCMG READY TO KICK OFF 2025 WITH SUZUKA DOUBLE-HEADER

Kids com Team KCMG is all set for the opening rounds of the 2025 Super Formula season this weekend at Suzuka International Racing Course, as the squad looks to build on its best-ever year.

The outfit has opted to remain with the same driver line-up of Nirei Fukuzumi and Kamui Kobayashi, who helped to achieve fourth place in last year’s Teams’ Standings. The duo combined for two pole positions and three podiums in 2024, the last of which was at this weekend’s venue.

In preparation for the new campaign, Kids com Team KCMG took part in pre-season testing, both cars finished in the top five on day one, with Fukuzumi second and Kobayashi in fifth.

Based in the Mie prefecture, Suzuka Circuit is Japan’s most famous motorsport venue, having hosted 34 Formula 1 Grands Prix. The 5.807-kilometre layout tests drivers with a variety of tough corners, including the Esses, Spoon Curve and the famous 130R. The figure-of-eight track will host the first of five double-headers on the 2025 Super Formula calendar.

Free Practice kicks off the weekend on Friday, before qualifying gets underway at 09:50 local time on Saturday with lights out at 14:40 later that day. Sunday’s proceedings start with qualifying from 10:15, with the race once again beginning at 14:40.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“Even though pre-season testing was cut short due to bad weather, the results of the test were positive, showing that we’re on the right track after our best-ever season in 2024. I’ll continue to work hard with the team and my new race engineer, Cosimo Prusciano, to get us off to a good start as we aim to achieve our first victory in 2025.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“This year the series has new tyres and with the limited running in the weather-affected pre-season testing, it’ll be a real challenge for everyone on the grid. Feedback from Friday’s Free Practice sessions will be key for our success throughout the remainder of the event, and we’re working together to ensure we start the season strong.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“We’re delighted to finally be kicking off the 2025 Super Formula campaign after achieving our most successful year in 2024. It provides us with a great platform to build on as we look to take a step further and fight for the Teams’ Championship. The opening weekend is likely to feature cold conditions, which we’ll need to adapt well to. We would like to thank our partners once again for their continued support as we prepare to start the new season.”
