In its aim to support aspiring young drivers to further develop their career in motor racing, leading Hong Kong-based motorsport services group, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG), has announced its participation in Sports Car Project China’s new entry level Formula series, Formula Masters China Series (FMCS) in 2013.
The series, which shall commence its first season in May 2013, will comprise of 6 events which will be held in different world-class circuits around Asia. The newly-founded motorsport event provides young drivers a fresh opportunity to compete in state-of-the-art Formula cars through a cost-efficient approach. To reinforce a premier racing experience for rookie drivers, FMCS will be staged side by side with some of the most exclusive one-make series events such as the Scirroco R-Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and Audi R8 LMS Cup.
Notably, FMCS will utilize a contemporary car featuring a Tatuus FA010 Carbon composite monocoque chassis powered by a 2.0FSI Volkswagen engine sanctioned by FIA F3 standards. Technical regulations encompass minor tunings which shall be limited to suspension adjustment and tire pressure.
A maximum of 18 cars will line-up on FMCS’s grid during its maiden season, with 6-8 seats reserved for an exclusive development program of Asian motorsport’s new blood. These young drivers will be given comprehensive training for one year which will prepare them as they enter subsequent seasons within motorsport. The series is set to make the management program available to novice drivers each year.
KCMG is proud to be part of this new motorsport initiative as the team promotes further development and progress of fresh talents on the circuit. The team’s constant objective is to guide and support young drivers to realise their goals in a sport which demands utmost skill, passion and hard work.
KCMG Managing Director, Paul Ip believes that FMCS has given young drivers a straightforward access to motorsport where they can groom and prepare themselves in an elevated and non-amateur manner. “KCMG is pleased to enter Formula Masters China Series in 2013. The team is happy to look after young drivers who aspire to be part of the sport, and for those whose goal is to succeed and make motor racing a long-term career. In fact, we have already started testing with very talented young drivers as early as November of this year. We are still open to accommodate aspirants who would like to be part of the series next year.”
