KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG), the first Chinese team to be granted an entry in the highly celebrated Le Mans 24 Hours, has taken delivery of its recently acquired Morgan LMP2 car. The Hong Kong-based team earlier announced its alliance with French constructor Onroak Automotive as it contests the greatest sports car endurance race this June in France.
KCMG has started its preparations for testing ahead of its Le Mans debut. Shanghai-based driver Alexandre Imperatori will represent the team in this new campaign that shifts the team’s direction to sports car endurance racing. The Swiss driver will head to Europe in late March to test the LMP2 prototype ahead of the big event at Circuit de la Sarthe.
KCMG Managing Director Paul Ip was recently in France to attend ACO’s official press conference for the event. The team’s Managing Director expressed his delight as KCMG makes history and inches closer to its goal to push the Asian motorsport industry to higher standards and to be recognized by a global audience.
“I started KC Motorgroup Ltd. with one ambitious goal in mind, be the first Formula 1 team in China. Thanks to the effort of a fully committed team of managing and supportive staff from around the world, each championship and project has made KCMG a step closer to this goal. This year, we are going to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours- which is an amazing opportunity for us. In the foreseeable future, KCMG will expand further to the European countries and through-out the world.”
The 81st edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours will be held on June 22-23, 2013 at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France.
