KCMG has signed Malaysian karting champion Akash Nandy for a full season in Formula Masters China Series this year. Nandy will be backed by Rembawang Group in the new entry level Formula series which will commence on May 11 – 12, 2013 at Zhuhai International Circuit, China.
Prior to racing cars, the 16 year old driver began racing karts in 2008 and competed in the JK Racing Asia Series. After a successful career in karting, Nandy moved on to single seater cars and finished 3rd in the JK Asia Series Rookie Cup in 2011.
The Malaysian driver represented KCMG last year in three events of Formula Pilota. The rookie delivered impressive results and secured a podium during his maiden outing at Ordos International Circuit in Inner Mongolia.
This year, Nandy looks forward to racing full-time with the Hong Kong-based motorsport team. The new Asian championship is a step up for the young driver who also competed in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand earlier this year.
Nandy is already preparing for the upcoming race season and is looking forward to be back on circuit with KCMG. The Malaysian rookie was quoted, “I am really happy that KCMG and I have come to an agreement, and I think I have chosen well. I want to thank my parents, Rembawang Group and KCMG for giving me this opportunity. I think we will be a great contender at the front.”
KCMG Deputy Manager John O’Hara is delighted to have Nandy on board full-time this season. O’Hara states “Akash is a very talented race car driver and it was a pleasure working with him last year. We all saw the potential in him and I am glad that we are a part of his progress as he pursues his dream. We at KCMG are all happy to have him represent us in Formula Masters and we’re looking forward to working with him throughout the season.”
Formula Masters will be comprised of 6 events which will be held in different world-class circuits around Asia. To know more about the championship, visit www.formulamasterschina.com
