KCMG gained positive results during Super Formula’s second pre-season test with Richard Bradley at Fuji Speedway earlier this week.
As the team embarked on the final two-day pre-season test, the British driver was able to sample different tyre strategies in dry conditions. Bradley laid down an impressive marker as he capped Day 1 of the official testing by finishing16th position.
Bradley completed the first session of Day 2 with much progress as he secured 15th position. The team was expecting better results had the new tyre run were not disrupted by a red flag.
Bradley set his best time of 1’23.29 and concluded the official testing by setting the 12th fastest lap during the afternoon session. The British driver is happy with the results that he produced and is looking forward to his debut race in Suzuka in just over three weeks. “I’m very happy with the way the test went, having made big progress with adjusting the car to the new for 2013 tyres. We were looking a lot stronger at this test, particularly on old tyres, but also had some bad luck on new tyres with red flags. But the one decent run we did get on new tyres was very competitive and even with a mistake by me on the fastest lap, there was only a small margin to 4th place which shows we have a very good foundation to build on. I can’t wait for the first race and think the new 300km length will suit us better than everyone else so I’m counting down the days!”
The KCMG Super Formula team is extremely happy with the progress made over the final pre-season test in Fuji. KCMG Japan General Manager Ryuji Doi was quoted, “Richard displayed so much progress in Fuji and we are glad that the car set-up suits him well. The results have been very encouraging. The team is looking forward to his first race in Suzuka. With continued hard work, we hope to score his first championship points as early as Round 1.”
The team heads to Suzuka on April 14-15 for Round 1 of the highly competitive Japanese series.
