The 2013 season of Super Formula concluded with this weekend’s Fuji Sprint Cup at the picturesque foothills of Mount Fuji. International motorsport group, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) wrapped up its campaign over the weekend, with British driver Richard Bradley finishing the 22-lap season ender in strong form.

Over 40,000 spectators gathered at Fuji Speedway to witness their favourite teams and drivers compete in Super Formula and Super GT’s final races. Held as part of the highly celebrated JAF Grand Prix, the Fuji Sprint Cup is one of the biggest annual motorsport events in Japan.

Fine weather along with Fuji’s idyllic setting was the perfect venue for Super Formula’s non-championship finale. Bradley secured seventeenth position on the starting grid after Saturday’s qualifying session on Fuji’s dry circuit.

The race was held in colder conditions as the temperature significantly dropped on Sunday. After stalling at the start, Bradley gained ground and delivered quick lap times, eventually overtaking Japanese driver Koki Saga on the fourth lap.

However, Saga regained his position in the closing laps. Ultimately, Bradley crossed the finish line in seventeenth position with the best lap time of 1.26’714s.

Bradley states that his first year in Super Formula has yielded valuable learning experience, which has helped him progress further as a race car driver.

Richard Bradley, KCMG Super Formula Driver: “It was quite a difficult race as we struggled with colder conditions today. Despite several setbacks, we had a good battle with Kogure and Saga. It has been a good year for me and I have enjoyed competing in the series, which is the most important thing. As a rookie, racing in Super Formula was difficult, but we’ve made constant progress and I am now looking forward to next year.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “It was a pleasure working with Richard this year and see him complete his maiden season in Super Formula with the team. We had a series of highs and lows, which is standard in motorsport. But overall, we had a good season and we are looking forward to next year. Once again, we would like to thank everyone who has supported and followed our progress this year.”
