KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) faced a trying season opener as Shohei Yuzawa concluded Rounds 1 and 2 of the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship in 6th position at Suzuka Circuit over the weekend.
The team’s Suzuka outing began on an optimistic note after Yuzawa completed both qualifying sessions in P2 on Saturday. In dry conditions, the Japanese driver set his best time of 1’55.04 in the Dallara F308.
Yuzawa started from second place on the grid and dropped a few positions after his car’s engine stalled at the start of Race 1. The Japanese driver recovered and was challenging for 3rd position when he spun off at the Degner corner and finished in 6th place.
In Race 2, Yuzawa fought hard at the front of the field but an error caused him to lose his position. After 17 laps, the Japanese driver wrapped up the second round of the championship in 6th place.
Shohei Yuzawa, KCMG All-Japan F3 Driver: “We were off to a strong start and the team did a great job in providing me with a competitive car. Qualifying in P2 for both races was a good result. I cannot wait to be back in the Dallara again and challenge for championship points in Motegi. My sincere thanks to everyone who came to Suzuka to show their support!”
Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “Shohei demonstrated his potential over the weekend and the team is satisfied that the car suits him well. Although we weren’t able to score as many points as we would have liked, we produced very encouraging results, especially during the qualifying sessions. We are looking forward to the next event in Motegi where our objective is to score our first podium this season.”
