KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) shifts its gaze to the majestic hills of the Ardennes for the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship on May 2 – 3. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will be KCMG’s maiden outing on the legendary 7.004km circuit, which is known for its tricky high-speed corners and sweeping flat out sections.
After scoring a superb podium finish at Silverstone last month, the Chinese LMP2 team is set for this new challenge and is prepared for a successful weekend at Spa. Swiss ace Alexandre Imperatori will join the team in Belgium and will share driving duties with Richard Bradley and Matt Howson in the World Championship’s second six hour round.
After a two-week interval following WEC’s intense season opener, KCMG’s #47 Oreca – Nissan is primed to challenge for the top spot in the LMP2 class. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will see two 120-minute free practice sessions ahead of the 30-minute qualifying run on Friday. The 6-hour race will start at 14h30 local on Saturday.
Richard Bradley, KCMG WEC Driver: “After our strong performance in Silverstone, I am going into the second round of WEC feeling confident of a good result. Unlike Silverstone, I have raced in Spa-Francorchamps before and I think it suits my driving style. I’m looking forward to get back in the car and cannot wait for the weekend to begin!”
Matt Howson, KCMG WEC Driver: “We head into Spa-Francorchamps second in the championship, and after an excellent 2nd place debut in Silverstone, we have a reason to feel confident. The weather in Spa is very unpredictable and over 6 hours we are sure to get some rain. This will be the main challenge for us drivers. The Oreca chassis and Dunlop tyre worked very well at Silverstone, and we’ll continue to improve our package for Spa.”
Alexandre Imperatori, KCMG WEC Driver: “I look forward to joining the team this weekend. We have shown in Silverstone that the package is good and had the potential to deliver top results so we are aiming high this year. Obviously, it will be our first time at Spa but we can learn quickly despite the fact the race weekend is only two days long for this round. The circuit looks absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to try it with the LMP2 car!”
Paul Ip, KCMG Managing Director: “Spa will be a new challenge for the team but we are looking forward with confidence. The result in Silverstone was very encouraging and I am pleased with how the team and new car performed. We have been working hard since the last race, making sure that we are well prepared for Spa. The team is also happy to have Alex join Richard and Matt and we are ready to fight for the top spot.”
