Following a month’s interval from Japan’s top Formula series, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) heads to the picturesque foothills of Mount Fuji as Super Formula’s second event takes place at Fuji Speedway on May 17-18. KCMG Super Formula driver Yuichi Nakayama is set to challenge for victory on Fuji’s 4.56km track this weekend.
The Japanese driver is looking forward to another solid battle against other competitors who are vying for the Super Formula crown. After an impressive outing at Suzuka Circuit last month, Nakayama has grown more adept in handling the Toyota-powered Dallara SF14 in variable conditions. The Super Formula rookie made significant headway after topping the time sheets during Round 1’s final practice session in April.
Yuichi Nakayama, KCMG Super Formula Driver: “It’s been a month since the last event and I’m looking forward to get back in the car. Fuji is a very special circuit and we did well on this track during the pre-season tests. It’s going to be a very hectic event, with two races happening this weekend. Our aim is to emerge on top and I will do my best to make this happen.”
Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “The team has proven its capability to be competitive in this series with the results that Yuichi delivered last month. The team is pleased with his performance and we are confident that he will do well in the championship. The team and Yuichi’s efforts are impressive and we are looking forward to compete in Fuji this weekend.”
Super Formula’s second round will be comprised of two races on Sunday, with a qualifying session stretched over 3 elimination stints on Saturday.
