Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG travels to Malaysia this week for the fourth event of Formula Masters China Series. The premier Asian entry-level Formula series’ three-race affair will be held at Sepang International Circuit from August 15-17.
Following a trying race weekend in Korea last month, James Munro and Dan Wells are primed for a new challenge in the VW-powered Tatuus FA010 at one of Asia’s highly demanding Formula 1 circuits. While Wells is not a stranger to the track’s technical configuration, it will be Munro’s first time to tackle Sepang’s 5.54km layout.
The Hong Kong-based squad heads into the second half of the season with a 57-point advantage in the Team Classification standings. After six consecutive victories in the championship, Munro maintains his spot on top of the leaderboard in the Driver rankings.
James Munro: “Sepang will be another new track for me, but I’ve proven before that this doesn’t matter much. We suffered some misfortune at Inje, but we had very good pace and I’m sure it will carry over. I’ll be aiming to keep winning races and extend my championship lead. The team has been fast here in the past so I think we should be quite strong.”
Dan Wells: “The Sepang circuit is fast, flowing and extremely fun to drive. I am expecting us to be very strong here, so I am looking forward to the weekend.”
John O’Hara, KCMG Deputy Managing Director: “We enter the second half of the season with expectations of maintaining our strong form in the series. The results that we had at Inje cost us some points but our aim now is to further extend our lead in the championship and deliver more wins in Sepang this weekend.”
