An encouraging outing at Autopolis earlier this month has renewed KC Motorgroup Ltd.’s (KCMG) confidence to wrap up Super Formula’s penultimate event in the championship points. Following a two-week interval, the premiere Japanese Formula series will hold its sixth event at Sportsland Sugo on September 27-28.
Yuichi Nakayama seeks to complete the 250km. challenge in the #18 Toyota-engined Dallara SF14 with strong results. Prior to his 2014 Super Formula assault with KCMG, the former Japanese F3 champion has dominated multiple times on Sugo’s 3.737km circuit.
Yuichi Nakayama: “It’s good to be back at Sugo and to compete in Japan’s most competitive Formula series. I have raced on this track before and know the layout like the back of my hand. But this will be a new challenge for me as the SF14 is a more complex and powerful machine. I’m looking forward to this weekend’s race and aiming to score championship points for the team.”
Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “We head to Sugo determined to conclude the race with positive results this weekend. I’m confident that Yuichi will be back in the mix as this is a venue where has won several times in the past.”
