For the third consecutive year, KC Motorgroup Ltd.(KCMG) will be represented by British driver Matt Howson in its LMP2 campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Howson will pilot the Chinese team’s brand new ORECA 05, as the team takes on another full season of the World Championship. In line with this, the British driver is looking forward to return to Circuit de la Sarthe with KCMG for the historic French endurance classic in June.
The British driver has been involved in KCMG’s Asian-based Formula campaigns since 2007. Before shifting to Le Mans prototype racing, Howson took part in Asian Formula 3, All-Japan Formula 3 Championship and tested Formula Nippon with KCMG in 2012.
Matt Howson: “It’s a dream come true to be back in FIA WEC and Le Mans with KCMG in 2015. I won their first race as a team in Asian F3, was part of their first Le Mans effort and FIA WEC win, so we have a great history together. This season will be tougher and there’s huge expectation, but with a great team and the new ORECA 05, I’m confident that we can fight at the front of the LMP2 field. I’d like to thank everyone at KCMG and I plan to repay their faith in me.”
Paul Ip, KCMG Founder: “Matt has been part of our LMP2 program since our debut in Silverstone and Le Mans in 2013 and has shared three WEC victories with the team since. His commitment and talent has been a valuable asset to KCMG and we’re happy to have him represent us once again in FIA WEC and Le Mans.”
