Nick Rowe, Martin Rump and Star Racing Academy’s Zheng Shang Guan and Jeffrey Ye will field the blue and white Volkswagen-powered Tatuus cars in the top Asian entry-level Formula series’ first three-race challenge.
Formula Masters’ much-anticipated season opener, which will be held from April 24 26, will witness Asian motorsport’s young blood battle it out on Sepang’s highly demanding 5.543km circuit. As for the four Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG drivers, this event marks their maiden outing on Malaysia’s F1 track. Reinforced by a committed team, Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG is once again primed to challenge for wins in the spirited Asian series.
Nick Rowe: “Two days of testing has now been finished and we have two more days before the official on-track action starts. It has been a wonderful experience so far. The quality of Sepang’s F1 track and the circuit’s facilities has been really impressive and I’m looking forward to compete and deliver top results at this amazing venue throughout the weekend.”
Martin Rump: “I arrived at Sepang early this week and got the first couple of runs in the car. The car is nice and installed, with the team working efficiently to fix any issues and are very eager to make everything as quick as possible. We are going to develop our speed and consistency throughout the next couple of days of testing and we should then be ready to be up there for the race weekend.”
Jeffrey Ye: “This is my first time to compete in Sepang and run a formula car. It is a nice circuit, I am very much looking forward to race now. I’m also keen to learn from my new teammates and to work with the entire team. I am happy to be part of Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG, and grateful for Star Racing Academy’s support, which has enabled me to race in Formula Masters.”
Zheng Shang Guan: “The Sepang F1 circuit is a great track which features a challenging configuration. After months of testing, I am looking forward to compete and will do my best to deliver good results throughout the weekend.”
John O’Hara, KCMG Deputy Managing Director: “It has been a busy month for the entire team as we got ready for Formula Masters first event in Malaysia. After weeks of preparations, we’re set to score some wins and looking forward to all four of our drivers’ first race at Sepang!
