KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) concluded a productive weekend as Struan Moore wrapped up All-Japan Formula 3 Championship’s second event at Twin Ring Motegi with promising results. The Hong Kong-based team made headway after Moore displayed competitive pace in his Toyota-powered Dallara F312 during the three-race affair on Motegi’s 4.80km road course.

After securing seventh position for Races 3 and 4 during the qualifying session on Saturday, the British driver went on and rounded off his maiden outing at the highly technical Japanese circuit in P7, posting his best time of 1:46.414 in the process. Sunday’s races, which underlined a taxing 14 and 20-lap challenge, were completed in seventh and eighth positions. Following Moore’s last assault in the widely contested national Japanese formula series, the British driver sits eighth in the Championship Class leaderboard while the Hong Kong-based outfit lies fifth in the overall team standings.

Struan Moore: “This weekend saw a big improvement from Suzuka which I’m delighted about. From Thursday morning until Sunday afternoon we made clear progress. I ended up being on pace with just inside the top 5 against drivers with much more experience of the track and this is only the second event of the year. The rate of progress has stepped up another level I feel this weekend and looking ahead to Okayama I believe if we can hook each session up we will have a solid chance of fighting within the points all weekend. For my first year in F3 and in Japan I can’t complain, I want to be at the front but patience is needed in order to learn the trade of the tracks and competition. A big thank you to KCMG for their advice and fighting spirit this weekend, looking forward to Okayama!”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport:The race weekend started on a high note and overall, the team has made significant progress with Struan. He has proven his tenacity and that he can compete alongside the fastest drivers in the field. There are still areas that we need to improve on but this does not dampen our confidence to challenge for victory.”
