Following a superb weekend in China last month, Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG heads to Chinese Taipei this weekend for Formula Masters China Series’ third event at Penbay International Circuit. Nicholas Rowe, Martin Rump, Jeffrey Ye and Sean Zheng are set to maintain the Hong Kong-based team’s winning ways in the Asian series’ much-anticipated triple-header on the highly technical 3.527km circuit.
As the championship enters its midseason mark, Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG leads Formula Masters’ overall Team and Drivers standings with Estonian driver Rump on top of the leaderboard. After competing with some of the most competitive young drivers in the region on two of Asia’s demanding Formula 1 tracks, the team is looking forward to Formula Masters’ first event at Penbay International Circuit.
The forthcoming three-race challenge is considered as a maiden outing for all teams on the four-year old motorsport venue and presents an opportunity for the drivers to demonstrate their skill in the Volkswagen-powered Tatuus FA010 on a level-playing field. With action-packed races expected this weekend from Asia’s most competitive entry-level Formula series, Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG has their eyes set to maintain the team’s strong form.
Nicholas Rowe: “I’m really looking forward to the weekend at Penbay as I feel I took a big step towards the front of the field in Shanghai. It will be an interesting weekend as no one has been here before and it should really shake some things up throughout the weekend. Hopefully by the end of the weekend, the team and I can bring home some positive results and grab a few podiums.”
Martin Rump: “When we arrived, I could sense some hot and humid weather – and that was only evening. It will definitely be a test of endurance and focus. Penbay Circuit looks technical, and I can’t wait to drive. We are positive going in to extend the lead.”
Jeffrey Ye: “I’m glad to be back in the car and to compete in the championship’s third event. I made some progress in Shanghai and I hope that I can deliver better results this time here at Penbay. It will also be a new challenge so I’m also hoping that I can learn more over the weekend.”
Sean Zheng: “I’ve been looking forward to race at Penbay. It is a new circuit, which means a new learning curve for me and I hope that I can do my best and be excellent throughout the three rounds.”
John O’Hara, KCMG Deputy Managing Director: “This is the team’s first time to compete at Penbay International Circuit, and we’ve been looking forward to this outing as this challenge is not only new for the drivers, but for the engineers and crew as well. We’re expecting an interesting weekend of racing and we’re confident we achieve the same success that we had in China last month.”
