KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) concluded FIA F4 Japanese Championship’s third event with promising results as Toyota Racing School-backed driver Yuki Nemoto displayed impressive pace throughout the Japanese series’ outing at Fuji Speedway over the weekend. Initially slated to run two F4 Dome cars for the championship’s fifth and sixth rounds, the Hong Kong-based squad was forced to withdraw the #18 entry due to mechanical issues.

Saturday’s qualifying saw Nemoto deliver competitive lap times on Fuji’s 3.563km circuit and completed both sessions in the top ten. Thirty-six cars lined up on the grid for the hotly contested National championship’s fifth round, with Nemoto starting from 10th position.

The Japanese driver got off to a strong start, but an incident on Turn 1 stymied his run, causing him to drop several places down the field. But Nemoto’s blistering pace and impressive control of the car saw him recover and move up to 12th place, ultimately maintaining this position until the race ended under the safety car.

Round 6 witnessed the Japanese driver start from seventh position on the grid and skillfully maneuvered his way up to fifth place. Unfortunately, a collision with the #9 car during an intense battle for fifth prematurely ended Nemoto’s race.

Yuki Nemoto: “We were on course to a strong finish and it was frustrating to retire midway Sunday’s race. Overall, I’m pleased that we were able to demonstrate our potential and how strong the car’s pace is. I’d like to thank everyone who came to Fuji and supported the team. We’re looking forward to seeing you all again at Suzuka next month!”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport: “It was a weekend of mixed results and it was unfortunate that we had to withdraw our second entry due to technical issues. Nonetheless, we are pleased as Yuki consistently displayed competitive pace from the practice sessions to the races. This gives us confidence that we can finish on the podium in the championship’s forthcoming events.”
