KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) has confirmed that Tsugio Matsuda will join the Hong Kong-based LMP2 squad as they defend their LMP2 title at Circuit de la Sarthe on June 18-19. After last year’s LMP1 effort with Nissan, the two-time Super GT champion rejoins KCMG in the French endurance classic and will pilot the Le Mans-winning #47 ORECA 05 – Nissan package with two other drivers who are yet to be announced.

Matsuda has been part of KCMG’s successful LMP2 programme in FIA WEC and Asian Le Mans Series since 2013. Notably, the Japanese ace’s laudable WEC performance in 2014 at Circuit of the Americas was where we first witnessed the team score their first LMP2 victory with ORECA. This year, the Le Mans-winning LMP2 outfit is set to repeat the same success that they had at La Sarthe in 2015.

Tsugio Matsuda:  “I’m delighted to return to Le Mans with KCMG and its an honour to be part of their effort to defend their title at La Sarthe this year. More so, it’s a great privilege to once again represent Asia in one of the world’s greatest races and I’d like to thank Paul Ip and Ryuji Doi for this opportunity. Our aim is to continue the team’s success at Le Mans and I’m looking forward to this upcoming challenge!”

Paul Ip, KCMG Founder: “Following tonight’s unveiling of the full entry list for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, we are happy to have Tsugio back with us and to defend our title at Le Mans with the ORECA 05. He is one of the top Asian drivers around and he has demonstrated stellar skill in the LMP2 car when he joined our programme in 2013 and helped us score our first WEC win at CoTA in 2014. Everyone is eager to see him back in the Oreca – Nissan package and we’re looking forward to a strong Le Mans campaign with him in June.”
