KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is poised for FIA World Endurance Championship’s (FIA WEC) first six-hour round in Asia as the highly competitive series travels to the Land of the Rising Sun for the 6 Hours of Fuji. After FIA WEC’s six thrilling events in Europe and North America, the Hong Kong-based outfit is keen to be back on the podium with Christian Ried, Wolf Henzler and Joel Camathias.

The trio will once again share driving duties in the KCMG GTE Am entry #78 Porsche 911 RSR after wrapping up the last two FIA WEC events with promising results. After finishing the 6 Hours of CoTA on the podium last month, KCMG aims to continue their strong form- this time on Fuji’s 4.563km configuration- with Ried, Henzler, Camathias and the rest of the team’s sight set on victory.

It will not be Ried’s first time to represent KCMG in Japan, as he has raced in the GT Am class alongside Paul Ip and James Munro in Asian Le Mans’ opening round at Fuji Speedway last year. Teammates Henzler and Camathias have also raced at Fuji and are looking forward to once again compete on the highly technical track.

Christian Ried: “Fuji Speedway is a track that should suit our 911 RSR quite good. This has been shown in the past year after the victory of our team-mate, Dempsey Proton Racing. We come to Fuji well-prepared for the race, but much will depend on the weather as everything from dry to wet conditions is possible.”

Wolf Henzler: “Fuji is always good for a surprise, particularly with regard to the weather – so its just important to be prepared for anything. Our preparation for Japan is as good as the last time in Austin, so were aiming to land on the podium once again – hopefully even at the top.”

Joel Camathias: “We are coming to the Asian races, the ones farthest from home. The long journey is compensated by the satisfaction of racing at Fuji, another legendary circuit, and of being in Japan again, a country whose culture fascinates me. It is not an easy track, but I like it and having raced here in GT Asia a couple of years ago, it is not new to me. Weather conditions are often unforeseeable and changing, especially in autumn. This, for sure, can have an impact on the race and on strategies. This said, our Porsche, perfectly prepared by KCMG who is doing a great job, has reached an excellent level of competitiveness. This allows us to aim again at a very good result.”
