SGC by KCMG seeks maiden 2012 victory in Fuji

After more than a month’s hiatus, the 2012 season of Japanese Formula 3 resumes for Rounds 5-6 at Fuji Speedway this coming weekend. SGC by KCMG is in high spirits as they prepare to compete in the competitive Japanese racing series.

The team, together with Gary Thompson and Matt Howson, will head to the foothills of Mount Fuji to race at the 4.56km circuit. With its layout featuring 16 turns, Fuji Speedway is considered as one of the most popular circuits in Japan.

Thompson and Howson are keen on challenging for podiums and have been looking forward to drive the Toyota Dallaras after modifications during testing. The team is confident that victory is possible in Fuji.

After SGC by KCMG’s outing in Motegi last May, the team is confident that Fuji will be a step forward. KCMG Japan General Manager, Ryuji Doi states, “The team has been working very hard to prepare the cars for the upcoming rounds in Fuji. Adjustments on the Toyota Dallaras have been made to help Gary and Matt race the cars with optimum efficiency. We are looking forward to a good race and hopefully a maiden victory this weekend.”

Gary Thompson: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend. We’ve been doing a lot of work on the car since the previous race so we really feel like we can be competitive and fighting for the win this weekend.”

Matt Howson: “This will be my first time racing at Fuji Speedway and I am very excited about it, the circuit looks incredible with plenty of overtaking places and always provided close racing in Formula 1. My competitors are better prepared at the moment but as last year showed KCMG and I have the experience and ability to win, so their advantage won’t last for long. I’m expecting wet weather in the Japanese rainy season, and I always perform well in these conditions, so if I can come away from the weekend with two podiums I will be happy.”
