KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) recently concluded their first FIA World Touring Car Cup assault with Attila Tassi at Hungaroring. The Hong Kong-based outfit fielded a JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR, displaying impressive pace despite a trying weekend.
Following this promising outing in Hungary, KCMG confirmed that they will launch a second FIA World Touring Car Cup campaign with Swiss driver Kris Richard at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife on 10-12 May.
The 2016 European Touring Car Cup winner has been unveiled as the second wildcard pick for the WTCR Race of Germany – an opportunity that the German-speaking pilot is eyeing to turn into a full-time drive in the championship.
The Swiss driver is no stranger to Green Hell’s 25.378km configuration where he won ETCC’s second of two races in 2016. Last month, Richard participated in ADAC Zurich 24h-Rennen’s qualification race in an Audi R8 as a late stand-in.
Kris Richard: “This opportunity is absolutely great, especially on this extraordinary track. This is my favourite race track and I already won there in the ETCC in a TCR car so it’s the perfect opportunity to show my skills to the public and my sponsors and prove I can manage to be in such a highly competitive field of drivers. My goal is to be in WTCR full time in 2019 so it could be the most important race of the year for me.”
Paul Ip, KCMG Founder: “We’re delighted to have Kris represent us in our second WTCR outing and for it to be set in such a legendary venue makes this challenge all the more special. We faced a tough weekend in Hungary but were definitely on pace – I’d like to thank the entire team for their hard work. Now we’d like to move forward and try again. With the Honda Civic Type R TCR and Kris, I’m confident that we can deliver positive results and hopefully finish on the podium.”
