Mike Halder joins HELL ENERGY Racing with KCMG for TCR Europe title decider

HELL ENERGY Racing with KCMG will expand to a three-car line-up in Spain next weekend as TCR Germany title contender Mike Halder joins the team for the TCR Europe season finale.

The 22-year-old from Baden-Wurttemberg joins up with team regulars Josh Files and Attila Tassi as they attempt to become series champions and add to the three titles already taken by the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR in 2018.

Having begun his circuit racing career in one-make GT racing in his homeland in 2014, Halder switched to touring cars in TCR Germany two years later and finished as series runner-up in TCR Germany in 2016.

Switching to Honda machinery with Honda Team ADAC Sachsen for this year, he scored three pole positions – more than anybody else. He also won three times – a total unbeaten by any rivals – on his way to fourth in the championship.

HELL ENERGY Racing with KCMG lie seven points off the top spot in the TCR Europe Teams’ Championship with 95 available across qualifying and two races.

Tassi and Files are fourth and sixth in the Drivers’ title race and are respectively 41 and 55 points away from the series lead with 55 available.

Both races will be streamed live on online at TCR TV and the TCR YouTube channel with Race One on Saturday at 1730 and Race Two on Sunday at 1555 (all times CET).

Mike Halder said: “I’m very excited to be making my TCR Europe debut this weekend. I have two targets; to support Attila and Josh in helping HELL ENERGY Racing with KCMG win the Championship, and to perform strongly and show people what I can do. I’ve had many pole positions and wins in TCR Germany – the toughest domestic TCR series in the world – this year and it will be interesting to see how I can fit in with a new team at a new circuit. I think it’s going to be an amazing weekend for the fans and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Matteo Chiarcossi, HELL ENERGY Racing with KCMG Team Manager, said: “We are very pleased to have Mike Halder join us for the final TCR Europe event of the year. He has proven himself to be one of the most exciting young talents in the toughest national TCR series in the world and he will be a great addition to our team. Mike and Josh know each other well after they finished as the top two drivers in TCR Germany in 2017 and we know he will to a great job of supporting our championship effort.”

Paul Ip, KCMG Team Founder, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mike Halder to represent us in the season finale of TCR Europe. Josh, Attila and the entire team have done a great job throughout the season and with Mike’s support, we’re set for a strong showing next weekend. It’s been a positive first year for KCMG in TCR Europe and we’re hoping to seal the championship title in Barcelona with this expanded line-up.”
