Jim Ka To will return to the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup with KC Motorgroup Ltd. for the Race of Macau at the famous Guia street circuit on board the #19 Honda Civic Type R TCR.
Fresh from a season-best finish of second in the Super Taikyu finale from Okayama with the KCMG Honda Civic, Jim Ka To heads to Macau for the penultimate round of the WTCR campaign and his second wildcard entry having shown strong pace during his series debut at Suzuka.
Racing on the narrow streets of the Macau Peninsula, the 6.115km circuit offers a severe driving challenge with high-speed corners and technical sections lined with barriers while undulating 30m from its lowest to highest point. The most renowned corner, the Melco hairpin, is tighter than the famous Monaco hairpin and the track reaches its narrowest point at just seven metres.
Ka To has a wealth of knowledge of the venue with two Macau Asian Formula 2000 Challenge races under his belt, finishing second during the 2001 event. The 2008 Formula Renault Asian Challenge champion has also gained much experience with Honda’s TCR machinery, which won during last year’s Race of Macau weekend.
The Hong Kong racer has competed with KCMG in the Dubai 24 Hours, the Japanese endurance series Super Taikyu and, more recently, the FIA Motorsport Games’ Touring Car Cup, with the final chapter of his 2019 season coming in Macau.
Two practice sessions will take place on Thursday 14 November at 09:00 (all times local, GMT +8) and 13:40 with qualifying at 08:50 on Friday. The first eight-lap race will commence on Saturday at 14:30 and the second at 08:20 on Sunday, before the 11-lap finale at 11:00.

Jim Ka To: “The Guia Circuit in Macau is extremely challenging. I’ve been on pole twice here in Formula Renault Asia so I have good experience, which I will use to help score the best result possible. I’m looking forward to competing against the top touring car drivers on one of the world’s most demanding tracks. Thanks to KC Motorgroup for this fantastic opportunity.”
Paul Ip, Team Founder: “Jim has become very familiar with the Honda Civic Type R TCR this year and has shown great speed during each of his outings. He performed well during his WTCR debut at Suzuka and we look forward to seeing him build on a strong start as he now gets the chance to race on a circuit that he’s had prior success at.”
