TYLER REDDICK AND NO. 8 KCMG TEAM FIGHTS FOR DAYTONA WIN

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) Chevrolet team driver Tyler Reddick fought for the victory at the final regular season NASCAR Cup Series outing of his rookie campaign at Daytona International Speedway last weekend, but just missed out on the Playoffs.

The Richard Childress Racing-run No. 8 car started the day needing a win to qualify for the NASCAR Cup Playoffs, and Reddick moved up the field to lead the race with six laps to go in stage one, despite being drawn to start 18th on the grid. The rookie held on well to finish the stage in third position and pick up eight points.

Despite falling back in stage two, Reddick moved towards the front of the pack towards the end of the race as he eyed a maiden NASCAR Cup Series victory. However, his chances of taking the win were ended during the five-lap shootout when he was hit during a multi-car collision.

Unfortunately, Reddick’s No.8 KCMG Chevrolet suffered damage during the incident and he ended the race in 29th position. The result left him 19th in the overall standings and just three spots outside the Playoffs.

Although the drivers that did not qualify for the Playoffs will be unable to compete for the championship, the entire field will start each of the final 10 races of the season. The two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Reddick earned a Cup Series career-best second-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season.

Tyler Reddick: “Our No. 8 KCMG Chevrolet team came out today with one goal and that was to win. We gave it our all and came close to making the NASCAR Playoffs during my rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series. Our No. 8 KCMG Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE was fast and handled really well too. I have to thank RCR and ECR for always bringing such great engines and cars to the superspeedway races this season. My spotter, Derek Kneeland, and crew chief, Randall Burnett, did a great job calling a race that got me up towards the front with 10 laps remaining. Unfortunately, during the five-lap shootout there was a big crash in front of me and my car got hit which hurt my chance to win. I can’t thank KCMG, Caterpillar, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Alsco, Chevrolet and all our partners at RCR and ECR enough for their support during my rookie season. I promise we’re still going to be fighting hard every week for the next 10 weeks to get our first win in the Cup Series.”
