KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) will compete in the 2020 TOTAL 24 Hours of Spa on 22-25 October as an extension of the team’s GT3 programme with Porsche.
After a maiden attempt at the historic Belgian enduro in 2019, KCMG will return to the Ardennes for the second round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season with two Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The Hong Kong squad has already enjoyed a successful maiden campaign with Porsche, finishing as its highest-placed car on three occasions in four Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS, previously VLN) races, and is aiming for further successes at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in three weeks.
In preparation for the 24 Hours of Spa, KCMG will make a wildcard appearance in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup’s 6 Hours of Nürburgring this weekend, fielding an experienced driver line-up of Alexandre Imperatori, Josh Burdon and Edoardo Liberati. All three have competed in NLS this season in the Porsche. The team will also bear a one-off livery for this weekend.
KCMG will make further announcements regarding its TOTAL 24 Hours of Spa entry at a later date.
Alexandre Imperatori: “I’m very excited for the weekend ahead. GT World Challenge Europe is incredibly competitive, and I can’t wait for this new challenge. That being said, we will aim to gather experience ahead of the 24 Hours of Spa and get the team up to speed quickly. We have a strong crew behind us and I’m sure we can do well.”
Edoardo Liberati: “After a strong performance at NLS 5 we’re already looking forward to our first race in GT World Challenge Europe this year. It will be all-new for us as a team, but we want to make the best out of the weekend, collect as much data as possible and get ready for Spa.”
Josh Burdon: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend at the Nürburgring GP circuit and teaming up with Alex and Edo in a Porsche once again. I love the intensity that the GT World Challenge Europe format brings so I am excited to see what we can do, although we are not underestimating the task at hand as we’re joining mid-season. With 48 cars on track, it is going to be busy.”
Paul Ip, Team Founder: “We are delighted to be competing in the 24 Hours of Spa next month and I think that the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup round at the Nürburgring this weekend will be ideal preparation. As a team, we have had a great debut season with Porsche, and I hope to see that really bear fruit in the races we have coming up. The drivers are getting to grips with the car and racing at a track like Spa-Francorchamps will be another great opportunity for them to show what they can do.”
